How’s Your #NaNoWriMo novel going? My progress report

Word Count

As of last night I should have at least 20,000 words written. I’m hovering around 18,000 right now. In my favor I was out of town at a convention for 4 days and spent one day in the hospital for tests.

But I will make up the deficit by Sunday. I make that promise to myself in public right now. I’ve let other things get in the way of making my time to write each day. I’ve been failing on my 500 word minimum commitment.

How are you doing? Leave a comment below to offer support whether you’re on track or falling behind. It’s not too late to catch up.

What’s getting in your way of writing? Let’s work together to find solutions.

Whether it’s time issues or plot problems, I’m here to help if I can.

Storyline

I’ve changed some of my story around from the original story planning sheets I shared last week. I discussed the characters and their motivations with a few author friends while at a convention in LA last weekend. The unanimous response was no one liked my FBI agent. He was too mean, especially to the other MC. Given that this is a romance as well as a mystery, that’s a dealbreaker right there.

So I went back to the drawing board with my ideas and got some great new suggestions from other authors.

Who else is feeling something isn’t working in your story? Why not leave a comment for me (or others here) to help figure out a solution. It’s not too late.  We still have more than half the month ahead, including 3 more weekends. Many of you Americans have a day off after Thanksgiving. (Write, don’t shop!)

I’ll be doing an official NaNo Repair post, but I’m happy to help with sticking points now. Just leave a comment.

  1. Kinda been distracted. Mom having chemo and brain surgery and all. And me doing house-maid/therapist work. But I’m about 11K in

I, too, am behind in word count. Darn if ‘Life’ didn’t throw a couple of writing road blocks at me this past week.;-( I also had troubles In my story because I was obsessing over a transition scene (or lack thereof) and last night as I was drifting off to sleep, it worked out and I’m back to producing words in forward motion. lolol I should be caught up by Sunday night.
