Help me name a new series and win a cool prize!

Yes, I’m begging for help again. I’ve realized titles and even character names are not my forte. I can spend hours pondering different possibilities and stress myself out far too much for anyone’s good.

I’d love your feedback and suggestions! I’m working on a series based around food and drink. The first story is about an ice-cream artisan, another about a winemaker, one about a chocolatier, and a couple of others feature chefs as the main characters.

The prize: your choice of T-shirt or tote with one of my covers.  If someone has a better suggestion than any of mine, you win the prize. If no one has a better one and we just go by the vote, then I’ll choose a random winner from everyone who leaves a comment.

Here are some of the ideas and suggestions I’ve collected so far. If you like one, vote, if you have a better idea, please leave a comment. If you want to be entered for the contest, vote and comment telling me what you voted for so I can make sure to enter you.

  1. Oh, I stink at names! I usually have to ask for help naming characters and then I end up choosing names that are really easy for me to type over and over. 🙂

How about something along the lines of the epicurean? There’s famous website for foodies called Epicurious– you could all your series Epicurean Delights or maybe Just Desserts? A Taste of Pleasure? I’m just tossing them out here now. Something to Savor? I like cutting to the chase and going with what it really is: Decadence. 🙂

  2. Then there is Umami: one of the five basic tastes, a Japanese loan word that means ‘a pleasant savory’. That might be a little obscure–I had no idea it was one of the five basic tastes (with salt, sweet, sour, and bitter)!

I lived in Japan for more than five years, and honestly Umami was one of the first words that sprang to mind to describe what I’m thinking, but it’s just not in everyday usage.

Well, I don’t have suggestions to add but I did vote for New Flavors and Culinary Pleasures, which seems to be winning!

  4. Suze says:

I also chose the two favourites – got to have a bit of a double meaning going on!
I’ll have to ponder for any of my own suggestions

I voted Cuisine d’amour and New Flavors.

Finding just the right name for a character and a title for a story seems easy for some, hard on others.

Hmm. How about Sweet & Sour, suggestive of romance and conflict? What about Raw Desires, Burning Delights, or does that suggest bad cooking? Or maybe Hungry for Love? Oh God, those sound terrible… LOL

Okay, end of suggestions. Clearly this is not my forte either 😀

    Good luck with this, EM!

    How about a simple:

    Foods of Passion?

(As in fruits of passion, but a little different)

If not that, then I’d say Love’s Kitchen (funny opposite of Hell’s Kitchen ^.^)

  7. Amazon Doc says:

    The Taste of Romance
    The Romantic Palate
    The Taste of Love
    The Flavors of Love
    The Seasons of Love
    Cooking Up Love
    Love Feeds the Soul
    Ummm….

  8. Amazon Doc says:

    A couple more —

    Appetites
    Savor
    Delicious

  9. Venona Keyes says:

It really depends on what you are going to write. Is the series going to be funny and playful? If so, I’d go for the the lighter of the names: Confections. If there is going to be some real steamy stuff, a more series name: Savory. If it is going to be a combination of both, my vote would be for:
    Sweet and Savory.

    Hope that helps!

What about something like Improvised Recipe/Working Without a Recipe/Recipe for (romance/love/etc). Unexpected Flavors.

I can see where this would be a hard decision, good grief. There’s only like a million possibilities.

    Voted!

lol… such great names already. but I thought of:

    Savory Plates
    Tasty Pleasures
    The Way To Your Heart

xD hehee, I had thought of that old saying “A way to a man’s heart is through his stomach” and so… came out with those… lol…
In any event, I am really looking forward to this series! ;D
