{"id":336,"date":"2009-07-21T11:50:23","date_gmt":"2009-07-21T18:50:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.emlynley.com\/blog\/?p=336"},"modified":"2009-07-21T11:50:23","modified_gmt":"2009-07-21T18:50:23","slug":"my-azkatraz-panel-time-magazine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.emlynley.com\/blog\/my-azkatraz-panel-time-magazine\/","title":{"rendered":"My Azkatraz Panel &#038; TIME Magazine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday I did a panel with <span style=\"white-space: nowrap;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ceciliatan.livejournal.com\/profile\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none; vertical-align: bottom; padding-right: 1px;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/l-stat.livejournal.com\/img\/userinfo.gif?resize=17%2C17\" alt=\"[info]\" width=\"17\" height=\"17\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/ceciliatan.livejournal.com\/\"><strong>ceciliatan<\/strong><\/a><\/span> on self\/e-publishing at Azkatraz. It was part of the MPA\u00a0program which was a series of panels and discussions about the business and commercial response to the Potter phenomenon. We only had a handful of people at our panel, but it went quite well and I\u00a0think most people learned a lot about how self- and e-publishing has become more accepted as a way to break into traditional publishing, if that&#8217;s your goal. We discussed lots of way to get your work in front of others and build an audience first, which becomes a pre-existing market when you do start subbing to publishers.<\/p>\n<p>Besides the panel, it was a good opportunity to introduce myself and my work to a new group of people, since I&#8217;ve never been part of the Harry Potter fandom.<\/p>\n<p>Best of all:\u00a0I\u00a0met the book editor from <strong><em>TIME\u00a0Magazine<\/em><\/strong> and mentioned the huge market of m\/m romance and how the majority of readers are women and much of it is written by women. He hadn&#8217;t been aware of this and found it fascinating. I&#8217;ve got him interested enough that I\u00a0think he may do an article on it for TIME.
