All concerns left his head when he saw the chimera let out a burst of flame out of its snake tail and incinerate a knight. He hadn\u2019t raised his shield in time and the screams carried over to where Cebrus stood.<\/p>\n

The smell of charred flesh filled the wind. Cebrus swallowed repeatedly so he wouldn\u2019t lose the food he\u2019d eaten earlier.<\/p>\n

Although he\u2019d seen battles before he\u2019d never witnessed anyone being burned alive. It was with no little satisfaction that he watched Silvan slice off the snake head with his sword.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat are you making?\u201d<\/p>\n

The guard\u2019s voice snapped him out of his trance. Looking down he saw the dark wood stick he\u2019d picked up a few days ago in his left hand and his whittling knife in the other.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sometimes wand making had a magic all it\u2019s own.<\/p>\n

Make him a wand.<\/em><\/p>\n

A soft female voice whispered in Cebrus\u2019s mind.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re making that for the prince you\u2019d best hurry,\u201d the guard advised.<\/p>\n

Cebrus snapped his attention back to the fight. The lion part of the chimera was snapping at Silvan as if he were a juicy steak. The loss of its snake tail didn\u2019t seem to be affecting it too much. Especially when it\u2019s goat head shot a fireball at an encroaching knight.<\/p>\n

At least this knight had the sense to raise his shield. Cebrus let out a sigh of relief as the flames fizzled out. His knife flew as Cebrus concentrated on forming the perfect wand.<\/p>\n

As soon as the stick reached wand potential, Cebrus took off down the hill his legs pumping to reach the prince in time. He could hear the guards chasing him but he knew if they caught him Silvan would survive the encounter.<\/p>\n

\u201cCebrus watch out,\u201d Silvan shouted.<\/p>\n

Cebrus tucked and rolled. The whip of air over his head told him he\u2019d just avoided something attacking him.<\/p>\n

A hard grip wrapped around his wrist and pulled him from danger. \u201cStay behind me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHere take this,\u201d Cebrus held out the wand.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith what hand?\u201d Silvan snapped waving his sword and shield. They were tucked against a hill with Silvan protecting them both with his shield.<\/p>\n

\u201cDrop the sword.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo way. It\u2019ll get us killed,\u201d Silvan protested.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrust me.\u201d Cebrus said. He knew they wouldn\u2019t get out of there alive if Silvan didn\u2019t listen to him.<\/p>\n
