\"\"<\/a>This book spawned four in the series, a number of short stories, and,\u00a0saw the birth of the Hammer Club series.<\/p>\n

The kicker? This book almost didn’t get written<\/p>\n

I was pondering BDSM and friends with benefits and everlasting friends\u00a0with benefits who then fall in love with partners because they can’t\u00a0be all of what each other needs and would the two ‘outside’ partners\u00a0also be friends. I had this scene in my head of the four of them\u00a0sitting in the living room together and the subject of sex coming up.<\/p>\n

Only one of the outside partners was this straight-laced, very\u00a0non-kinky man and a cop to boot, while the other one was this BDSM\u00a0Top… oh yeah, like that’s going to work.<\/p>\n

Only it did.<\/p>\n

After I’d written Between Friends<\/em>, it turned out I had several\u00a0prequels that also needed to be written. Then, while doing a short\u00a0story staring Peter and Sammy — Testing Leather, available as a free\u00a0read on my website
\n(http:\/\/www.seanmichaelwrites.com\/books\/testingleather.html<\/wbr><\/a>) — Marcus\u00a0and Jim showed up. Just a bit part — they’re in maybe four or five\u00a0paragraphs at the beginning, but that’s all they needed to set root in\u00a0my brain and refuse to let go.<\/p>\n

So while Between Friends<\/em> might be the story of Harry and Jason and\u00a0Peter and Sammy, it’s also the birth of two series, countless\u00a0characters, and I will always be very fond of it.<\/p>\n

Between Friends:<\/em> Two very different couples. Two very different lives.\u00a0Yet somehow they manage to keep things between friends.<\/p>\n

Schoolteacher Jason and Harry the cop have a pretty good life\u00a0together. Or at least they always have in the past. When Harry starts\u00a0acting strangely, withdrawing from Jason and displaying bouts of\u00a0mysterious anger, Jason starts to wonder if he\u2019s losing his hold on\u00a0what he and Harry share.<\/p>\n

He turns to his friend Samuel, a college roommate, for a little moral\u00a0support. Antique dealer Samuel has enough on his plate, buying a new house with his lover, Peter, and keeping up with their inventive love\u00a0life.<\/p>\n

Luckily for Jason, Samuel\u2019s lover, Peter, is also a good friend of\u00a0Harry\u2019s. When Peter hears about the troubles between Harry and Jason,\u00a0he forces Harry to confront his demons, and to give Jason the chance\u00a0to help.<\/p>\n

Can Harry and Jason come to terms with secrets that might change their\u00a0lives forever? With Samuel and Peter\u2019s help, they just might, as they\u00a0find out what friends are for, and what it means to let someone help\u00a0share the load.
