Fairy Tales Aren’t For Kids

Beastly, a new interpretation of Beauty and the Beast opens in US theatres today. Next week, Amanda Seyfried’s film Red Riding Hood opens. Hollywood has several more fairy-tale-inspired films coming during the next year, including Julia Roberts’ turn as a wicked witch.

Once again, fairy tales come back to their roots: horrific, terrifying and this new crop is definitely not for kids.

If you like your fairy tales with a little more emphasis on the erotic and the romantic, you’re bound to enjoy the stories in the two GLBT Fairy Tale anthologies I’ve edited. Over the next week I’ll be featuring posts here by the talented writers who weave a new chapter on fairy tales.
