Tobin Wyler is about to open the most significant exhibit in his career as a curator, and everything is going perfectly until he spots his former boyfriend chatting with his most important contributor at the black-tie reception. It goes from bad to worse because not only did Pierce Worthington once break Tobin’s heart, but he’s suspected of being the elusive art thief known as Jaguar, and Tobin knows his target is the highlight of the exhibit: an enormous emerald known as the Green Sorrow.

Pierce is torn about seeing Tobin again. He is expected to obtain the emerald, but he knows it may damage Tobin’s reputation. What Pierce doesn’t expect is how quickly old feelings about Tobin rise to the surface. Hoping to ease Tobin’s fears and spend time with him, Pierce offers to let Tobin keep a constant eye on him for the thirty six hours leading up to the exhibit. Thrown together again out of necessity laced with attraction, Tobin must figure out how to protect the emerald, his reputation, and his heart.

Part of the excitement of new relationship is finding out what you have in common and areas where you differ. Hopefully you agree on the big things, while the differences are what make life fun. You enjoy high-energy music and guitars so loud the walls vibrate; he prefers soft jazz and sexy vocals. Maybe he lives for college football, but your idea of an enjoyable evening watching sports is curling up with a bowl of popcorn and watching ice dancing.

When it comes to the holidays, though, things can get a little hairy. You’ve got years of tradition on both sides and how do you resolve things if you have opposing views? The first year Christmas rolled around after my husband and I first got together, there were some intense conversations. “What do you mean you don’t put the presents out until Christmas Eve? Where’s the fun in that? How are you supposed to shake the packages and try to guess what’s inside?” “Santa wraps the presents? Wuh-huh?

We worked things out, but it could have been ugly.

What about you? Have you had to make adjustments in the way you celebrate your holidays?

Danny is really fond of Aaron, but he’s still hung up on his ex, Gabe. Every time Aaron smiles at him, he thinks of how he used to smile at Gabe just that way, and he can’t find a way to give Aaron all of him.

Aaron doesn’t want a boyfriend who only gives half of his attention, either, so he tells Danny to make up his mind—in or out. When Danny finally decides he’s being a jerk, he calls Aaron, only to find his new love sick as a dog. He delivers some tender loving care, but can Danny and Aaron make it last past Christmas?

First off, thanks to everyone who voted for BEDKNOBS & BEANSTALKS. We won the Whipped Cream Book of the Week poll. All the exposure popped us up on the sales charts over at Ravenous Romance, so the authors are very excited. People are coming out of the woodwork to tell me how much they enjoyed it, and the editor wants the lesbian version even more now. That’s next month’s project.

For now, I’m working on my jewel heist story for Torquere’s Color Box series…. and I need some help with choosing my setting.

Tobin is a curator, putting together an exhibit which includes a very famous emerald, and his old boyfriend turns up. In another time and place, that might be wonderful. The problem is Pierce is a jewel thief. Or at least Tobin thinks he is. Things have a way of going missing when Pierce is around, but no one’s reporting the thefts. All Tobin knows is he needs to protect his jewels and his heart.

So, I don’t know where the exhibit should take place.  It could be a real museum, a made-up museum or at some other location like a casino or a castle somewhere in Europe. I’m open for suggestions at this point. I considered a casino in Monte Carlo, but not sure if it’s worth doing the extra research.

What do you think? Do you like to see stories set in real locations? Do you prefer vague locations which don’t say specifically where they are? Or would a made-up museum work for you? Does it matter?

For me, I like to see real places used as settings in fiction ONLY if they are realistic portrayals of the place. Otherwise, I’m fine with a fake place, as long as nothing substantive is completely implausible.

What about you?

I’m thrilled to announce that Torquere just offered me a contract for ANIMAL INSTINCTS, another story featuring Nate and Cory from A HEAT.SEEKING.MISSILE.

The first story got some great (5-star) reviews and I had emails from readers asking for more with these characters, and more is coming!

ANIMAL INSTINCTS started out as free-read ficlet based on prompts submitted by [info]janalyn ! I expanded the story quite a lot from her prompts, but it takes place at the zoo. It was fun to write and I’m happy Torquere liked it.

As soon as I have information on a release date, I’ll post the gay penguin coupleinformation.

Stay tuned, I have another contract to announce later today….

I’ll also be posting another call for prompts for another one of my free reads.   Busy day today!

My story “The Sweetest Christmas” is one of three to appear in this holiday-themed mini-anthology.

Take one hot, naked blindfolded guy, add a deviously creative boyfriend and mix in a bowful of truffles and an empty house on Christmas Eve, and you’ll get the sweetest Christmas you’ve ever seen (or tasted!). Will Jared’s family figure out what he and Erik got up to when everyone else gets back from Midnight Mass? Read excerpts!

Tis the Season for a little holiday cheer, and this Taste Test brings on the fun, and the romance! In Quinn, by Mary Blyton, Quinn is a tough Irish immigrant, working to support his family back home. When he’s ordered to train a quiet Filipino man named Dakila, a surprising relationship develops.

In Deck the Balls, by Kris Klein, it’s Christmas in retail hell for Sam Harmon, a college student who’s only recently joined a department store Santa team. Still, between Dylan Carter in menswear, and a chance to get closer to his dad, Christmas might not be all bad. Finally, in The Sweetest Christmas, by EM Lynley Jared and Erik are having a blast with blindfolds and truffles while everyone is at Christmas Eve Mass, but will Jared’s family spoil the fun?

I finally got up the courage to submit one of my stories to a publisher. I’ve been thinking about it for a while and I had just the right thing when I saw the call for subs on a publisher’s website.

I submitted a story yesterday to Torquere Press’s Taste Test ‘Tis the Season. It’s a Christmas scene converted from a much longer fanfic I wrote last year. I had to substantially rework it to make it a standalone, and a scene that started out around 1700 words ended up at 3700 by the end. Not too bad. If they don’t take it, at least I have something to shop around next holiday season, as by the time they give me a decision, I’m sure it will be way too late to sub anywhere else for this holiday season.
